What TO EXPECT IN OUR SESSIONS:
Each week will comprise a mixture of breath work, yoga poses and meditation/relaxation experiences which are aimed at supporting your wellbeing whilst engaging with a likeminded community. This is a time to be with yourself to develop inner calm and stability to support your every day life.
BREATHWORK /PRANAYAMA
Pranayama is the ancient yogic art of breath control. The intention of pranayama practice is to increase vital energy (Prana) within the body to improve mental clarity, reduce stress, and balance the autonomic nervous system.
Classes will be inclusive of practitioners of all levels of Pranayama experience with modifications available to facilitate deeper exploration of these integral practices which can be further practiced outside of class to benefit your wellbeing in daily life.
ĀSANA
‘Āsana’ is a Sanskrit word which can mean either ‘posture’ or ‘seat’ and is used to refer to the poses (i.e., standing, seated, prone, supine, inverted), held in a stable and balanced manner within ones practice.
Within our sessions, āsanas will be aimed to support you in cultivating steady, comfortable, and stable postures which facilitate improved flexibility, strength and vitality.
Āsanas can be customised to support all levels of experience. Wherever you are with your physical practice this class will support you in reducing physical tension, stress and improving overall health - Beginners welcome!
YOGA NIDRA / SYSTEMATIC RELAXATION
Classes will conclude following a meditative activity which aims to facilitate an experience of deep relaxation. This will be achieved through engagement with Yoga Nidra and Systematic Relaxation at times accompanied by sound bath instrumentation.
Yoga Nidra or ‘yogic sleep’ is a deeply restorative meditation practice. Restful awareness and conscious relaxation is achieved through a guided meditation which aims to relax the nervous system, reduce stress, and facilitate improvements in sleep.
Systematic Relaxation is a technique employed to reduce physical tensions, and psychological discomfort through intentional activation and relaxation of specific muscle groups.
SOUND HEALING
Sound healing is an ancient therapeutic practice which aims to induce deep relaxation and reduce stress through the use of intentionally tuned instruments.
Sound baths are immersive sonic experience that likewise induce deep relaxation, reduce stress, and improve sleep within a group setting. Within this practice, participants are welcomed to enter a deeply meditative space whilst being ‘bathed’ in the vibrations of instruments such as singing bowls, chimes, gongs, and rhythmic instruments.
